Ingredients

Artichokes
2 large artichokes
1 lemon
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
Garlic Butter Dip
3 Tbsp. butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp. lemon juice
Hot Honey Dip (optional)
2 Tbsp. honey
1/2 tsp. chili flakes

Directions

Step 1 – Prep the artichokes Trim the stem so it sits flat, then cut about 1 inch off the top. Use scissors or a knife to trim the sharp tips off the outer leaves. Rub all cut areas with lemon to prevent browning. (this is the only “technical” part — once you’re through it, you’re chilling)

Step 2 – Cook them properly Place the artichokes in a pot with a couple inches of water, drizzle a little olive oil over them, and add a pinch of salt. Cover and steam for 30–35 minutes until a leaf pulls off easily with almost no resistance. (if you have to fight it, it’s not ready yet)

Step 3 – Make the garlic butter In a small pan over low heat, melt the butter and add the garlic. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned, then stir in the lemon juice and remove from heat. (burnt garlic ruins everything — keep it gentle)

Step 4 – Make the hot honey (optional) Warm the honey and chili flakes in a small pan for about a minute until slightly loosened and infused. (this adds a sweet heat contrast that actually hits)

Step 5 – Serve the experience Place the artichokes on a plate with both dips on the side. Pull off the leaves one by one, dip them, and scrape the inside with your teeth. Work your way toward the center where it gets more tender. (this is not a “perfect bite” dish — it’s meant to be slow and interactive)

Rizz Tip
“If they lean in while you’re both figuring it out, slow down a little… that moment’s doing more than the food.” 😏
