1 cup Greek yogurt
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
2 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp lime juice
Pinch of salt
Optional
1 Tbsp cocoa powder for chocolate avocado ice cream
Dark chocolate chips
Crushed nuts
Berries
Directions
Step 1 – Pick the Right Avocado
Use an avocado that is ripe and soft, but not brown or stringy. If it smells weird or looks too far gone, don’t try to save it in dessert form.
This recipe works because avocado is creamy, not because we’re pretending old guac is ice cream.
Step 2 – Build the Base
Add avocado, Greek yogurt, protein powder, honey, vanilla, milk, lime juice, and salt to a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth and creamy with no green chunks hiding anywhere.
The lime juice helps keep it fresh and stops the avocado flavor from getting too loud.
Step 3 – Check the Texture
Pause and scrape down the sides so everything blends evenly. If it’s too thick to move, add a small splash of milk and blend again until it turns smooth.
You want it thick like soft serve, not watery like a smoothie.
Step 4 – Taste Before Freezing
Take a small taste and adjust if needed. Add a little more honey if it tastes too earthy, or a tiny pinch more salt if it feels flat.
This is the moment to fix it, because freezing dulls sweetness a little.
Step 5 – Freeze It Properly
Spoon the mixture into a small container and smooth the top. Cover it tightly and freeze for 2–3 hours until firm but still scoopable.
Don’t freeze it overnight without expecting it to get hard, because homemade ice cream likes to act dramatic.
Step 6 – Quick Challenge
While it sets, hit 20 pushups or a 30-second plank. You made avocado ice cream in a gym cookbook, so the least you can do is commit to the bit.
No standing around checking the freezer every five minutes like it’s going to text you back.
Step 7 – Let It Soften Before Scooping
Take it out of the freezer and let it sit for 5–10 minutes before scooping. This brings back the creamy texture and keeps you from attacking it with a spoon like a caveman.
If it’s too hard, give it a few more minutes instead of forcing it.
Step 8 – Add the Finish
Scoop into a bowl and add berries, crushed nuts, dark chocolate chips, or a tiny drizzle of honey if you want. Keep toppings controlled so it stays in dessert territory without turning into a calorie ambush.
This is the sweet fix that feels rich, creamy, and still fits the plan.
