Ingredients

Bread
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 packet (2 1/4 tsp.) instant yeast
3/4 cup warm water (not hot — think warm shower water)
1 Tbsp. olive oil

Garlic Butter
4 Tbsp. butter, softened
3 garlic cloves, finely minced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried parsley

Optional: mozzarella or Parmesan

Directions

Step 1 – Build the dough (don’t overthink it) In a bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Pour in the warm water and olive oil, then stir until it turns into a rough, slightly sticky dough. Dump it onto the counter and start kneading — push, fold, turn — for about 8–10 minutes until it becomes smooth and soft. It should bounce back slightly when you press it. (this is where it goes from “ingredients” to “okay wait…”)

Step 2 – Let it come to life Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it sit somewhere warm for about 20–25 minutes. It won’t double like bakery bread, but it’ll puff slightly and feel softer. (this is the calm before everything smells insane)

Step 3 – Shape it naturally Press the dough out onto a baking tray into a rough oval or rectangle. Don’t try to make it perfect — slightly uneven edges make it look more real, more homemade. (perfect = fake, slightly messy = better)

Step 4 – Bake the base Put it in a 400°F oven for about 15–18 minutes until lightly golden and firm on the outside. When you tap it, it should sound a little hollow. Pull it out and let it sit for a minute. (this is when the smell starts doing most of the work for you)

Step 5 – Make the garlic butter While the bread is still warm, mix the softened butter with garlic, salt, and parsley until smooth. It should be spreadable and strong-smelling. (don’t hold back on the garlic — this is your moment)

Step 6 – Finish it right Slice the bread open or into thick pieces, then spread the garlic butter edge to edge. Put it back in the oven for another 5–7 minutes until the edges crisp and the butter melts into everything. If you’re adding cheese, do it now so it bubbles slightly on top. (this is the glow-up)

Step 7 – Serve immediately Pull it out and let it sit just long enough to handle, then serve warm. The outside should have a slight crunch, the inside soft and steamy. (this is not a “wait around” food — this is a “right now” food)

Rizz Tip

“If they walk in and pause for a second because of the smell… just look at them and say ‘yeah, I know.’” 😏
