Ingredients
Chicken
1 lb chicken
1 Tbsp oil
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt + pepper

Rice
2 cups cooked rice (preferably cooled)

Optional sliced cucumber, peas, peanuts

Directions

Step 1 – Start with the Right Rice
Use rice that has cooled slightly or been refrigerated so it’s a little drier. If it’s fresh, spread it out for a few minutes to let the steam escape.
This is what allows it to crisp instead of turning soft again.

Step 2 – Cook the Chicken First
Season the chicken and cook it in a pan over medium-high heat until browned and fully cooked. Let it build a proper crust before flipping.
While it’s cooking, get 15 pushups in. No excuses you’re standing there anyway.

Step 3 – Build the Crispy Base
Add oil to a pan and spread the rice into a thin, even layer. Press it down slightly and let it cook undisturbed for 4–5 minutes.
Do not touch it early or you lose the entire effect.

Step 4 – Break It the Right Way
Once the bottom is golden and crisp, break the rice up gently so you get a mix of crispy and soft pieces. Don’t overmix it or you’ll lose the contrast.
This is where the meal actually changes, even though the ingredients didn’t.

Step 5 – Bring It Together
Add the chicken back in or layer it on top depending on how you want to serve it. Keep it slightly separated so the textures stay intact.
You want different textures in each bite, not one uniform mix.

Step 6 – Serve Immediately
Serve while the rice still has some crunch. Letting it sit too long will soften everything back up.
Eat it while it’s right, then go earn the next one.
