Ingredients
8 oz pasta
1 lb ground turkey
1 cup pasta sauce
Directions

Step 1 – Boil the Pasta
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and add a generous pinch of salt so the water tastes slightly seasoned. Add your pasta and cook according to the package instructions, stirring occasionally so it doesn’t stick.
Before draining, scoop out about 1/4 cup of the pasta water and set it aside. Then drain the pasta.
(Salted water is your only chance to season the pasta itself, and that reserved water helps bring everything together later.)

Step 2 – Cook the Turkey with Some Color
Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add the ground turkey. Break it apart as it cooks, but don’t rush it—let some pieces sit long enough to develop light browning.
Season lightly with salt and pepper once it starts to cook through.
(Turkey is lean, so browning it properly is what keeps it from tasting flat.)

Step 3 – Build the Sauce, Don’t Just Add It
Pour your pasta sauce into the pan with the turkey and stir to combine. Let it simmer for a few minutes so it thickens slightly and the flavors blend together.
You should see it go from thin to a bit richer and more cohesive.
(This step turns it from “ingredients mixed together” into an actual dish.)

Step 4 – Bring It All Together
Add the drained pasta directly into the pan and toss everything together so the sauce coats every piece.
If it feels too thick or dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water and mix again until it loosens up and becomes smooth.
(The pasta water helps bind the sauce so it clings instead of sitting on top.)

Step 5 – Taste and Adjust
Take a quick bite and adjust if needed add a pinch of salt, a little pepper, or even a dash of hot sauce if it needs a lift.
(This is where you go from following steps to actually cooking.)

Step 6 – Portion and Move On
Divide into servings while it’s still warm. Store or eat immediately depending on your plan.
(This is your “I almost ordered food but didn’t” win, and it actually holds up.)
