Ingredients

4 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Optional: vanilla ice cream, extra chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1 – Preheat the oven Preheat your oven to 350°F so it’s fully ready before the dough goes in.

Step 2 – Build the base In a bowl, mix the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth and glossy. It should look slightly thick and shiny. Add the egg yolk and vanilla, then stir until fully combined and creamy.

Step 3 – Add the dry ingredients Stir in the flour and baking soda until just combined. Don’t overmix stop as soon as the flour disappears. Fold in the chocolate chips last so they stay evenly distributed. (overmixing = tougher cookie, we want soft and gooey)

Step 4 – Press and shape Press the dough into a small oven-safe skillet or baking dish in an even layer. You can add a few extra chocolate chips on top so they melt into the surface.

Step 5 – Bake it right Bake for 12–15 minutes until the edges are set and slightly golden, but the center still looks soft and underbaked.

Step 6 – Let it settle Remove from the oven and let it cool for 3–5 minutes so it sets slightly but stays warm and gooey inside.

Step 7 – Serve immediately Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream right on top and let it start melting into the cookie. Serve while warm and slightly messy.
