Ingredients

Steak

2 steaks (ribeye or sirloin, 8–10 oz each)
1 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 Tbsp. olive oil
2 Tbsp. butter
3 garlic cloves, smashed
1 tsp. fresh thyme (or 1/2 tsp dried)

Fries

1 lb. potatoes, cut into thin strips
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Optional Sauce (Quick Garlic Butter Drizzle)

1 Tbsp. butter
1 garlic clove, minced

Directions

Step 1 – Prep and cook the fries Preheat your oven to 425°F. Cut the potatoes into thin fry shapes and toss them with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread them out in a single layer on a baking sheet so they crisp instead of steam. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp on the edges. (spacing matters crowded fries don’t crisp)

Step 2 – Prep the steak Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper. Let them sit at room temperature for about 10–15 minutes if you have time. (dry steak = better crust, always)

Step 3 – Cook the steak Heat a skillet over high heat and add olive oil. Place the steaks in and let them cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes to build a crust. Flip and cook another 3–4 minutes. Add butter, garlic, and thyme, then tilt the pan and spoon the melted butter over the steaks for 1–2 minutes. (this is where it goes from good to “wait… hold on”)

Step 4 – Rest the steak Remove the steaks and let them rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. (this keeps the juices in the steak, not all over your plate)

Step 5 – Optional quick finish Melt a little butter with garlic in the pan and drizzle it lightly over the steak right before serving. (small move, big upgrade)

Step 6 – Serve Plate the steak with the fries on the side. Keep it simple, clean, and slightly spaced out so it looks intentional.

(this one is confident, classic, and doesn’t need to say much)

Rizz Tip
“If you’re sitting next to them, let your shoulder rest lightly against theirs for a second… then don’t move.” 😏
