Ingredients
Chicken
1 lb chicken breast
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Garlic Butter
2 Tbsp butter
3 garlic cloves, minced

Rice
1 cup jasmine rice (uncooked)
2 cups water
1/2 tsp salt

Directions

Step 1 – Lock in the Rice First
Start by rinsing your rice under cold water, moving it around with your fingers like you’re actually trying to wake it up. Dump the cloudy water and repeat until it runs mostly clear.
Add it to a pot with water and salt, bring it to a boil, then immediately drop the heat to low and cover it. Let it cook undisturbed for 15 minutes.
Once done, turn off the heat and let it sit still covered for another 5 minutes. Then fluff it gently with a fork.
(This is your foundation. Bad rice makes good chicken feel average. Good rice makes everything feel dialed in.)

Step 2 – Prep the Chicken Like You Know What You’re Doing
Take your chicken and pat it completely dry. Not kinda dry actually dry.
Slice it into even pieces so it cooks consistently. Then season all sides with paprika, salt, and pepper. Press it in slightly so it sticks.
(This is the difference between “I cooked” and “I know how to cook.” Small details, big payoff.)

Step 3 – Build Real Flavor (Don’t Rush This)
Heat your pan over medium-high for a full minute before adding oil. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken and spread it out so each piece has contact with the pan.
Now don’t touch it. Seriously. Let it sit for 4–5 minutes so it builds a proper golden crust.
Flip and cook another 4–5 minutes until fully cooked.
(If you keep moving it around, you’re basically asking it to stay boring. Let it cook.)

Step 4 – The Upgrade Moment (Garlic Butter Changes Everything)
Lower the heat slightly and add butter and minced garlic directly into the pan.
As the butter melts, tilt the pan slightly and spoon it over the chicken again and again for about 1–2 minutes.
Let the garlic soften and become fragrant but not burn.
(This is where the entire meal levels up. Same chicken, completely different experience.)

Step 5 – Rest, Then Slice (Yes, It Matters)
Remove the chicken from the pan and let it sit for 3–5 minutes before cutting it.
This keeps the juices inside instead of running out all over your board.
(If you cut it immediately, you just worked hard for dry chicken again. Don’t do that.)

Step 6 – Plate Like You’ve Got Your Life Together
Add your rice to a bowl or container. Slice the chicken and lay it over the top.
Then don’t skip this spoon the garlic butter from the pan over everything.
That’s your flavor, your moisture, your entire upgrade sitting right there.
(This is the part where it stops feeling like “meal prep” and starts feeling like you’re actually doing something right.)

Step 7 – Meal Prep Smart (Future You Will Care)
If you’re storing this for later, keep a little of the butter separate if you can and add it after reheating.
(It keeps everything from getting soggy and brings the flavor back to life.)
